Lakes to Summits - Pyrenees
From alpine lakes to the highest peak in Catalonia in one unforgettable week
Hey! I’m Tom from Trekking Tom Experiences 👋
If you’re looking for your next mountain adventure, come and join me in the Catalan Pyrenees for an unforgettable week of hiking, incredible scenery and great company.
I’ve been hiking, scrambling and mountaineering for over twenty years, and have spent countless days exploring mountains across the UK and beyond. This trip is a chance to experience one of Europe’s most spectacular mountain regions alongside a great group of like-minded people.
Together we’ll explore panoramic mountain summits, turquoise alpine lakes, hidden swimming spots and the spectacular Congost de Mont-rebei gorge. Every day is different, giving you the chance to experience some of the very best hiking the Pyrenees has to offer.
The trek is led by Andrew, a fully qualified UIMLA International Mountain Leader, who knows these mountains inside out. I’ll be there throughout the week as your host, hiking alongside the group and sharing the experience with you.
Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself, make new friends, or simply spend a week immersed in incredible mountain scenery, I’d love for you to join us.
See you in the Pyrenees!

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Barcelona – Transfer to the Pyrenees
We’ll pick you up at Barcelona Airport and drive you to the stunning Pyrenees region. After the scenic journey, you can unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead in a comfortable hotel.
Day 2
Montsent de Pallars
Distance: 17 km | Ascent: +1400 m | Descent: -1400 m | Duration: 8-9 hours
Our first full day takes us to the summit of Montsent de Pallars (2,883m), one of the finest viewpoints in the Catalan Pyrenees. We climb steadily through peaceful mountain scenery before the landscape opens up to reveal panoramic views across the surrounding peaks and valleys.
After reaching the summit and taking in the incredible 360° views, we retrace our steps back to the valley. It’s a challenging but hugely rewarding start to the week, setting the tone for the adventures still to come.
Day 3
Collegats Gorge & Natural Pools
Distance: 7 km | Ascent: +400 m | Descent: -400 m | Duration: 5 hours
Today we explore the spectacular Collegats Gorge, where winding trails lead through dramatic limestone cliffs, peaceful woodland and hidden corners of the valley.
One of the highlights of the day is the chance to stop at crystal-clear natural pools—perfect for a refreshing dip if the weather is on our side. It’s a very different experience to yesterday’s summit, giving us the chance to slow the pace, enjoy the scenery and soak up one of the Pyrenees’ best-kept secrets before returning to Tremp for the evening.
Day 4
Sant Maurici Lake Circuit
Distance: 12 km | Ascent: +800 m | Descent: -800 m | Duration: 5 hours
Today we explore the heart of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, following a circular route through one of the most iconic lake landscapes in the Pyrenees.
Well-graded trails take us past a chain of turquoise alpine lakes beneath the dramatic spires of Els Encantats, with time to pause, take photos and enjoy the scenery. The terrain is gentler than previous days, making this a more relaxed outing and a chance to recover while still covering beautiful ground.
After completing the loop, we return to Espot for the evening, with time to rest and prepare for the next stage of the journey.
Day 5
Active Recovery / Mont-rebei
Distance: 10 km | Ascent: +100 m | Descent: -100 m | Duration: 6-7 hours
Today we head to one of the Pyrenees’ hidden gems. Our route climbs steadily onto the Taüll Ridge, where we’ll spend much of the day high above the valleys, surrounded by sweeping mountain views in every direction.
With dramatic ridgelines, peaceful mountain scenery and far fewer people than the region’s more famous trails, this hike offers a real sense of adventure. It’s a rewarding day that showcases another completely different side of the Catalan Pyrenees before we return to Tremp for our final evening together.
Day 6
Active Recovery / Mont-rebei
Distance: 11 km | Ascent: +900 m | Descent: -900 m | Duration: 5 hours
(Or full rest day at the hotel pool — your choice)
A lighter day between big summits.
Choose a scenic half-day hike through the Congost de Mont-rebei gorge, or enjoy a full rest day exploring Tremp and relaxing by the pool.
Day 7
Return to Barcelona
After breakfast, we’ll drive you back to Barcelona Airport, leaving you with incredible memories from this unforgettable Carros de Foc adventure.
